In 2006, Artist Block burst onto the Florida music scene, appearing
in such venues as: the National Performance Network at the Straz, the Roots Music
Festival and the Crisis Center’s Take Back the Night. Powerhouse singer/songwriter leads, Q Fraz
and John Clark, accompanied by Naj and Christian Ystrom, perform a unique blend
of acoustic infused with easy rock electric guitar, jazzy Southern Soul with a hint of funk steeped
in afro-Caribbean percussion - the backdrop for inspired social commentary
through song and the spoken word. Artist
Block is an expressive collection of life experiences shared on an open
platform: the Artist Block. Artist Block explores and demonstrates ‘Art
to Overcome Adversity’, empowering the community at large through live
performances and workshops. Co-Founders
Quiana ‘Q Fraz’ Frazier (Poet, Author, Musician) and Najah ‘Naj’ Frazier
(Percussion) actively promote this vision in cities as a community outreach
project, in schools, libraries, café’s and other gathering venues – performing
original music, percussion and poetry.
